As part of our goal to continue promoting fitness and physical activity, even during pandemic, we in Sierra Igorota decided to create a fun activity highlighting our own obstacles. We called it the Obstacle Challenge.

The challenge consisted of 20 obstacles that would be done for a series of 15 rounds for male participants and 10 for the women. The first five obstacles were done indoors while the other obstacles were placed outside. Some of the obstacles included the classic monkey bars, tire flip, cargo net, traverse wall, rope climb, balance beam and tire hoist.

Originally scheduled for April 17, the event happened on May 9 instead because of the unforeseen circumstance brought about by the pandemic. There were 15 strong men and women who registered and tested their physical and mental strength. 13 of them finished strong and received their well-deserved Sierra Igorota Limited Edition shirts.

The Fastest Male Finisher was awarded to Alejandro Yodong with a time of 2 hours and 4 minutes while Elizabeth Dee was the Fastest Female Finisher with an impressive time of 1 hour and 50 minutes.

Thankfully, there were no reported major injuries during the event.

We are now planning to have another kind of challenge soon! In the meantime, don’t forget to stay active! Stay safe everyone!
